Peanut Butter Pup Cake

Good morning people of earth.

Yesterday was an exciting day around our house. Our baby girl turned one year old! When I say baby girl, I mean our fur baby. Who is really like our daughter. I know I'm not alone in the world on treating my dog like my child.

Bella is the sweetest little pup (though, not so little anymore) and we wanted to do something special for her. I never do any birthday celebration halfway so, of course, we went all out throwing a little party, complete with party hats, a special meal and, of course, birthday cake! Plus some burgers and cupcakes for the humans.

My little girl LOVES peanut butter. I mean, most dogs do. But when I tell you she loves peanut butter, I mean to the point that she probably needs a support group. It's hands-down her favorite food. So, of course, I wanted to treat her to a peanut buttery treat for her big day. At the same time, I wanted something that contained all ingredients that were healthy for pup. Some of the other dog cake recipes I found across the web had questionable ingredients. So, I decided to just come up with my own recipe. And this cake was a hit!

This cake contains oat flour, applesauce, pumpkin, and flaxseed - all wholesome ingredients for your furry friend. Plus, there is a special surprise in the middle. Yes, there is a peanut butter core! And the icing is Greek yogurt and more peanut butter. She gobbled this right up and was looking for more. It made for the perfect single-serve birthday cake.

~ Directions ~

Preheat oven to 350° and grease a small ramekin.

In a bowl, mix together flour, applesauce, pumpkin, water, and flaxseed.

Scoop half of the cake batter into the ramekin. Next, add the peanut butter. Then pour the remaining batter on top, being sure to fully cover the peanut butter.

In a separate bowl, combine ingredients for the icing.

Bake for 25 minutes, or until fork inserted into the cake comes out clean. Let cool completely. Remove from ramekin and top with icing.

Hope your fur baby enjoys this special treat as much as our's did!
